BrightShield

Helping organisations think more clearly about the moments that matter.

BrightShield helps charities, community organisations and sports organisations think more clearly about safeguarding, governance and the everyday situations that don't always have straightforward answers.

Start today with a free Conversation — a short, private reflection based on a realistic situation. No login. No email address required. Nothing is saved as part of the reflection.

    A five-minute example

A Conversation is a short, private pause that helps you think more clearly before a situation gets heavier. It costs nothing, saves nothing, and is yours to keep in your head.

Safeguarding · Scene one — After the session

When Something Doesn’t Feel Quite Right

It’s just after seven on a Thursday evening. The youth group has finished, the chairs are being stacked, and most people are heading for their cars.

One of your volunteers catches you as you are putting the attendance sheet into your bag. Her voice is lowered.

“I’m probably making something out of nothing,” she says, “but Jamie was very quiet tonight. When I asked if everything was okay, he said he wished the session lasted longer because he didn’t really want to go home. Then he laughed and said he was only joking. I don’t know. It just stayed with me.”

She gives a small shrug, as though she is already half-taking it back.

The Conversation is our small gift. It's how BrightShield introduces itself — without a form, an account, or a follow-up email.

    After the reflection

    Continue the Conversation with MAIT

After reflecting on the situation, you can explore it further with MAIT.

MAIT helps you explore different perspectives, ask practical questions and think more clearly about what you might do next. It does not make decisions for you, replace your organisation's procedures or act as a safeguarding reporting channel.

Your MAIT Conversation is private to you. Other users and organisation administrators cannot read it.

MAIT is designed to support your judgement, not replace it.

    Does this feel familiar?

Whether you're a trustee, volunteer, safeguarding lead, committee member, coach or charity leader...

    You probably spend time:

    • wondering if you've missed something
    • searching for the latest policy
    • preparing trustee papers
    • trying to remember why an important decision was made
    • helping new volunteers find their feet
    • juggling governance, safeguarding, funding and everything else that keeps an organisation running

You care deeply about your organisation. BrightShield is designed to make carrying those responsibilities feel lighter.

    Being built with organisations

    Learning

BrightShield Learning combines practical online training with realistic organisational situations and, where appropriate, your organisation's own policies and procedures. Instead of generic courses, learning becomes more relevant to the way your organisation actually works. It is currently being developed with pilot organisations and is not yet publicly available.

    The Hub

The BrightShield Hub is designed to bring together an organisation's policies, decisions and organisational knowledge in one place. Organisations will be able to review policies with MAIT, identify areas worth discussing, prepare summaries for trustees or directors and keep learning, governance and organisational knowledge connected over time.

Imagine an ordinary Tuesday morning with BrightShield

You open the BrightShield Hub before your first meeting.

Your safeguarding policy is due for review. MAIT has reviewed the policy and highlighted the sections that may be worth discussing.

A trustee asks whether you've dealt with something similar before. The answer is there in seconds.

A volunteer has a safeguarding question. The guidance already reflects your organisation's own policy and reporting routes.

Before lunch you've finished preparing the trustee agenda, checked two funding opportunities and still have time to visit the community project you actually joined to support.

    Nothing dramatic.

Just fewer things slipping through the cracks.

More confidence in the decisions you make.

And more time for the work that really matters.

    Where we are

    Pilot organisations

    Help shape BrightShield

We are preparing to pilot the BrightShield Hub with a small group of charities, community organisations and sports organisations.

Pilot organisations will help us test how BrightShield works in real organisational settings, tell us what is genuinely useful and shape what we improve before the Hub becomes more widely available.

Whether you're a small volunteer-led group or a larger organisation, we'd be pleased to hear from you if you would like to be considered for the pilot.

    A design principle

BrightShield is being designed to remain accessible to organisations of every size, including small and volunteer-led groups. Affordability is one of the principles we are building around from the start.

    THE JOURNEY CONTINUES

    This is only the beginning.

Every Conversation begins with a real situation faced by charities, community organisations and sports organisations.

Those Conversations are becoming something much bigger.

They are shaping practical online training built around real organisational life.

They are informing the development of the BrightShield Hub, bringing together organisational knowledge, policies, learning and thoughtful decision-making in one place.

BrightShield hasn't been imagined in isolation.

It is being built from the real questions, real decisions and real challenges organisations face every day.

We're building it carefully, alongside the charities, community organisations and sports organisations who will eventually rely on it.

You may still find it difficult to picture exactly what the BrightShield Hub will become. That's perfectly understandable.

We're not asking organisations to imagine it. We're building it carefully alongside the organisations who will use it, shaping it through real experience, thoughtful pilot programmes and continuous learning before it becomes more widely available.

We also know many organisations are curious about AI while wanting to explore it safely, responsibly and with confidence. BrightShield is being designed to help organisations explore those opportunities without losing the judgement, values and human thinking that matter most.

The world is changing quickly. You don't need to figure it out alone.
