Safeguarding Conversation
The Only Person They Really Talk To
Good coaching is not only about technique, tactics or performance. Coaches often notice confidence, pressure, disappointment and the small changes others may miss. In many clubs and development programmes, trusted relationships help young people keep going. That support can be genuinely valuable. But sometimes support grows quietly around one relationship. Not because anyone planned it. Not because anyone meant harm. Simply because one person became available, trusted and kind. This Conversation is not about deciding whether a coach has done something wrong. It is about what an organisation may need to notice when trusted support starts to sit mostly with one person.
